Safety advice
Stay safe during planned or unplanned power outages. If you any concerns, call us on 0800 30 90 80.
- In an emergency (e.g. car accident involving power lines or a transformer fire), call 111.
- During a power outage, treat ALL power lines as live. Do not go near them as power can be restored at any time.
- Report any hazards to our 24-hour fault line 0800 30 90 80.
Top tips
Stay safe during planned or unplanned power outages. If you any concerns, call us on 0800 30 90 80.
- Keep freezers and refrigerators closed. The refrigerator will keep food cold for about four hours. A full freezer will keep the temperature for about 48 hours.
- Check on your neighbours. Older adults and young children are especially vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
- Turn off or disconnect appliances, equipment, or electronics. Power may return with momentary “surges” or “spikes” that can cause damage.
