Community Fund open - vote now!

Local community groups, charities, cultural organisations and schools are all eligible to receive a share of the $20,000 MainPower Community Fund in 2018.

MainPower Chief Executive Andy Lester said that he is looking forward to seeing who will be nominated this year. “The beauty of the Community Fund is that we get great insights into what causes are important to locals and we are able to direct funding accordingly. To date, we’ve provided funding for 14 North Canterbury charitable organisations, schools and cultural groups and we look forward to building on that this year.”

In 2017, funding went to community groups that had formed in response to earthquakes like Miss Lilly’s Angel Trust and the Waiau School and Community Pool committee. Schools and other community groups like Riding for the Disabled and have also fared well over the years.

Residents within MainPower’s distribution area of North Canterbury are encouraged to vote via the MainPower website before Friday 31 August.

Once nominations have been received, the fund will be divided proportionately between the organisations that receive the most votes.
