Orange Traffic Light Update
During the Orange traffic light setting, all planned outages will proceed as scheduled. We recognise outages may be difficult for some customers to manage, however, our priority is ensuring we can maintain a safe, reliable, quality supply of electricity throughout the network. If you are working from home, we recommend that you have a backup plan should a planned or unplanned outage affect your area.
Treat all lines as live during the outage period; power may be restored at any time. If you require further information, please call MainPower’s 24-hour fault line – 0800 30 90 80; to report an emergency call 111.
Theft of copper earth wires from power poles has increased over the past 12 months throughout North Canterbury. When they are cut or stolen, there is a risk of electric shock, burns or fire, as well as the risk associated with removing an important safety system on the pole.
If you observe anyone interfering with a power pole or other electricity network equipment, please dial 111 immediately and ask for Police.
If you notice a power pole with cut or stolen earth wires (earth wires are either bare copper or have a green, or green/yellow covering), please call MainPower on 0800 30 90 80.
