Danger: Felling trees near power lines
MainPower has experienced a number of recent outages due to members of the public felling trees near power lines without following the correct process. This is incredibly dangerous and needs to be completed by a suitably qualified arborist. Please contact MainPower or visit the Trees and power lines page on our website for more information on how to fell trees and maintain vegetation safely when near power lines.
Treat all lines as live during the outage period; power may be restored at any time. If you require further information, please call MainPower’s 24-hour fault line – 0800 30 90 80; to report an emergency call 111.
MainPower is a proud supporter of Māia Health Foundation who are celebrating the completion of one of Canterbury’s biggest fundraising campaigns, and the landing of a future-proofed helipad at Christchurch Hospital.
Māia started its fundraising mission in 2018 and has successfully hit the $2 million target.
Patients rescued by chopper are currently transported by ambulance from Hagley Park to Christchurch Hospital, adding approximately 13 minutes to their transfer time. The rooftop helipad will enable patients to get to hospital sooner and free up valuable emergency resources.
The world class asset, which includes a clinical support unit for specialist care on touch down, is now complete and ready for action when the new hospital opens in early 2020.
