Upgrading the line that supplies electricity to Hanmer Springs from 33 kV to 66 kV.
While Hanmer Springs does not require additional capacity at this time, the upgrade will facilitate capacity increases in the future.
This project will improve the resilience and reliability of the existing line with stronger conductors and structures. It also enables the decommissioning of end-of-life assets at Marble Point Zone Substation.
Work has already begun on this project. Any pole replacements along the line have been upgraded to poles that can support 66 kV.
We’re committed to minimising any inconvenience to the community while we undertake this work. After consulting with the Community Board, we’ve decided to replace sections of the line over the next 3-5 years, spreading out the work to lessen disruption.
