Congratulations Youth Sports Scholars

The ten recipients of the 2017 MainPower Youth Sports Scholarships were recognised at the 16th annual MainPower North Canterbury Sports Awards on Friday 27 October. The funds, which total $30,000, will be put towards the continued development of the young athletes in their chosen sports.

Ten finalists are selected who each receive a $2,000 scholarship. From the finalists, a winner and two runners-up are chosen who each receive a further $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.

Congratulations to the overall winner, Ben Oliver (Mountain Biking), the two runners-up Kiri Aitkin (Triathlon) and Bronwyn Dibb (Trampoline) and the finalists, Jacob Pepper-Edwards (Wrestling), Rebecca Jones (Archery), Macey Fraser (Football and Futsal), Charlotte Whittaker (Basketball), Gabrielle Rennie (Football), Jackson Ogle (Track Cycling) and Jordan O’Connell-Inns (Gymnastics).
